ORLANDO (Dec. 2, 2014) – Cardiovascular Interventions (CVI), a cardiac state-of-the-art facility based in Orlando, is pleased to announce Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) screenings and new treatments. The risk of PAD is higher in people with diabetes, hypertension, and known coronary artery disease. As many as 12 million Americans are affected by PAD, which is more than those with cancer.
Dr. Pradip Jamnadas, founder and Medical Director of CVI, said, “While Peripheral Arterial Disease is a serious condition, it is a common and treatable disease. At CVI, we believe that information empowers patients to seek access and better follow treatments for disease. You should learn about PAD if you have pain in your leg muscles on exertion, which is then relieved by rest. CVI offers PAD screenings and solutions to help reduce or even eliminate symptoms.”
PAD is caused by plaque build-up or blockages in an area of the body outside of the heart such as the legs, neck or arms. The blockages keep extremities and organs from receiving oxygen-rich blood. And just like clogged arteries in the heart, blocked arteries in the legs raises the risk of cardiovascular events, such as heart attacks and strokes. Ultimately, PAD can reduce mobility and lead to more serious conditions if left untreated such as leg amputation and even death.
“From prevention to intervention, CVI offers periodic screening for PAD right at our office and we can now offer a more complete range of solutions from medical management in our clinic to atherectomy and angioplasty in our Catheterization Lab,” said Jamnadas. “We are pleased to be among the first outpatient facilities in Orlando to offer a Drug Eluting Balloon as one of our many treatment options. This is an exciting new treatment to improve a patient’s symptoms. We recommend that anyone experiencing health problems ‘get smart, get seen and get healthy.’”
CVI’s 12,000 sq. ft. facility houses a variety of state-of-the-art technology advancements and equipment that aid in the diagnosis treatment of both cardiac and peripheral vascular conditions and assists in developing the most sophisticated and comprehensive treatment plans.
