What is a HeartFlow® Analysis?
Cardiovascular Interventions is making it easier to find out if you have Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) with a new and innovative test called The HeartFlow Analysis® . This test is non-invasive that uses a CT Angiogram of your Coronary Arteries to make a 3D picture of the blood flow in your heart. This shows if there is anything blocking blood from getting to your heart. Previously, the only option was a Cardiac Catheterization procedure that involved going inside your body to get this information. Now, if you are a candidate, we can see what’s going on more easily and helps our medical providers decide what to do next to help you feel better.
How does the HeartFlow® Analysis work?
- If we believe your arteries in your heart need to be checked for blockages, we will ask for a special test called a Coronary CT Angiogram. If we need to know more, we may ask for a HeartFlow Analysis.
-
From the Coronary CT Angiogram, HeartFlow uses computers to make a 3D digital model just for you. Experts and AI programs look at this model to figure out how blockages are affecting blood flow in your heart.
-
We get a 3D model that shows your heart’s arteries in different colors. This helps us understand what’s going on and decide what to do next for your health.
How do I prepare for the study?
There is no preparation for this study, as it utilizes the Coronary CT Angiogram Scan for its 3D images.
What is the risk?
There is no risk associated with this study.
No additional radiation exposure or procedures used during this study.
What are the benefits?
- Gives a clearer picture of how serious your heart tube blockage is, better than the usual heart scan.
- It’s safe – you don’t have to worry about extra risks because it doesn’t involve going inside your body.
- Lessens the need for more tests and checks later.
- Helps your doctor figure out the best way to take care of your health.
