Arterial Doppler Study
An arterial Doppler study is a noninvasive, painless study used to assess the blood flow and pressure within the arteries using high frequency sound waves.
This study is carried out in our office daily and can take up to 1 hour to perform.
An arterial Doppler may be used to diagnose a variety of conditions including:
- Detecting the presence of blood clots
- Arterial occlusion
- Decreased blood flow to the arms or legs due to peripheral vascular disease
- Aneurysm
- Vascular tumor
Carotid Artery Doppler Study
Carotid artery Doppler study is a noninvasive procedure carried out in our office which is used to assess blocked or reduced blood flow of the arteries of the neck that could cause stroke.
This test is also used to evaluate symptoms of dizziness, vision changes, and loss of balance that may be caused by impeded or restricted blood flow through these vessels.
Abdominal Ultrasound Study
Abdominal ultrasound study is a simple, non-invasive office procedure that uses high frequency waves to view images of the abdomen.
This study is done in our office daily.
An abdominal study is used to evaluate the kidneys, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, and abdominal aorta.
This study is useful in the diagnosis of:
- Abdominal pain or distention
- Abdominal mass
- Blockages in the aorta due to atherosclerosis (fatty plaque) or clot formation
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm (local dilatation of the diameter of the aorta)
- Vascular tumors or malformation
- An enlarged abdominal organ
- Stones in the gallbladder or kidney
Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)
Many people who have peripheral arterial disease (PAD) don’t have symptoms. Patients with known heart disease and/or diabetes are at higher risk and should be screened for PAD. Symptoms include a tight, aching, or squeezing pain in your calf, thigh, buttock or feet. This pain is called intermittent claudication and usually happens after you have walked a certain distance and may be relieved by rest. Please let your healthcare provider know if you are experiencing any of these symptoms.
